Activities

  • The contact with potential beneficiaries was achieved by our team of social workers through regular meetings with the youngsters from the Placement Centres no. 5, 7, 8. 9 and 10.
  • The selection of beneficiaries for the programmes in the residential centre and social apartment for girls was achieved successively by the ASIS social workers, by the coordinator of the residential centre/ social apartment for girls and by the social programme coordinator.

The main selection criterion was the youngsters’ real and constant wish to live independently.

  • The initial assessment of each selected youngster was carried on during the first two weeks of the programme. This activity consisted of the following components:
    • Assessing the youngster’s knowledge through general culture tests
    • Assessing certain behavioural characteristics – this activity was carried on by each member of the team of social workers
    • Drafting the beneficiary’s behavioural profile and filling in the related assessment records after the first two weeks in the residential centre/ social apartment for girls
  • Designing the individual educational project – each youngster was supported by a key-worker in designing his/ her own social integration project.

Each couple young beneficiary – ASIS key-worker got through the following stages when designing the individual project:

    • identification of the youngster’s specific needs (e.g.: lack of identity papers, health problems, school abandon, etc)
    • establishing a hierarchy of the needs, prioritizing them and deciding on how to meet those needs
  • Implementation of the individual educational projects and progress evaluation.

This activity which had many components (purchasing, cooking, laundry, housekeeping, development and consolidation of the knowledge acquired in school, practical course of basics of conversation in a foreign language, active verbal communication, written communication, independent life exercises, exercises for managing a fixed and limited budget, etc.) was achieved and is constantly carried on with all the youngsters included in ASIS programmes.
