Results
- The following institutions were contacted:
- All local Directions for Child Protection (the specialized services)
- 3 Departments for Social Assistance within the Sector Mayoralties
- 8 NGOs whose target group are street children
- 5 vocational qualification/ re-qualification, counselling and job mediation institutions
- 2 school inspectorates
- 11 education institutions (elementary schools)
- 7 public health institutions/ services
- 7 police sections/ electronic services for population records
- 44 seminars/ work meetings with the representatives of most of these institutions (the average number of participants per seminar – 20 persons), with the following results:
- a better understanding of the actual characteristics of the “street children” issue
- exchange of field information and expertise
- building up an electronic system for recording the street children cases has been started
- The results of the concrete assistance and counselling for social integration:
- Total number of approaches – 196, of which: 53 medical approaches; 30 approaches for identity papers; 16 placement approaches; 52 social inquiries; 37 approaches for school/ courses registration; 8 job finding approaches;
- Number of families contacted: 19
- Number of families supported financially: 24
- Number of families counselled on administrative issues: 6
- Number of children for whom the medical treatment prescribed by doctors was paid: 11
- Teenagers admitted to a vocational training course: 2
- Hospitalized children: 2
- Children placed in emergency centres: 4
- BBeneficiaries who participated to group activities – children integrated in other NGOs’ programmes: 1
- Beneficiaries included in A.S.I.S. programme: 4
- Children reintegrated in families: 32
- 33 beneficiaries participated to two trips organized in July and September 2004.
- 216 teenagers (63 girls and 153 boys) have been informed of: their rights, the risks that street life incurs and the possibilities of social reintegration.
- 32 beneficiaries have been lastingly integrated (they do not live in the street any longer) due to the direct intervention of the Association, as follows:
- 4 in the structures of the Association
- 4 in state institutions (placement centres)
- 24 in families
