Activities

  • Selection of beneficiaries for ASIS’ residential structures.

Main criteria:

  • The youngsters’ real and constant wish to participate to the independent life skills training programme;
  • Basic psycho-physical features which would enable the youngsters to attend this programme.

Each beneficiary who was approved for the residential structures signed a “moral contract” with A.S.I.S.

  • Initial assessment
  • Knowledge assessment (through specialized evaluation tests as well as simple tests such as: dictation, arithmetic calculations, etc.);
  • Behavioural assessment
  • Elaboration of the individual educational projects for the youngsters hosted in the residential structures of A.S.I.S.

The coordinator of the social apartment established the individual educational project for each beneficiary only together with the respective boy or girl included in the programme. Each educational programme was designed by taking into consideration and analysing together with the beneficiary the latter’s aspirations, the chances for education, professional training, getting/ keeping a job suited to his/her real potentialities, for being hosted out of the social apartment.

  • Implementation of the educational project in the residential structures of A.S.I.S. and progress evaluation.

The implementation of the educational project was achieved through a series of activities that the youngster participated to during his/her stay in the social apartment:

  • consolidate the cooking skills (food purchasing and processing);
  • consolidate the personal hygiene habits (cleaning and mending the personal clothes and underwear) as well as housekeeping skills;
  • completion and consolidation of the knowledge acquired in school
  • active verbal communication (phone talking, performing to an interview, contradictory conversation);
  • written communication (writing a CV, a letter, a money order, a request);
  • independent life tests/ experiments (activities to consolidate the personal budget management skills);
  • consolidate the occupational skills.
  • Evaluation of the youth’s progress

The evaluation of the beneficiaries’ progress in each of the activities described above was done weekly by the social apartment coordinator and monthly by the programme coordinator.
The results have been recorded in the personal file of each young beneficiary of the programme.

  • Closing up the intervention in ASIS’ structures. Aftercare case monitoring.

Aftercare monitoring and support were provided to each beneficiary by the programme coordinator.
With a purpose to monitor the youngsters’ social integration in compliance with a 6 moths plan, the social apartment coordinator paid periodical visits to each young beneficiary’s domicile and work place and granted them material support in some critical moments.
Open activities have been organized (trips, Christmas and New Year’s Eve dinners) aiming to keep the contact with the former beneficiaries.
